Our community is a district being strangled by a corrupt monopoly of power and influence. It should not take any elected official close to 20 years to create change in our community that result in affordable housing for working families, a better educational system, training programs, legal assistance, and safety programs.

We need an educational system that supports the children, parents and teachers. We need a system that promotes choice. We need training programs that increase job opportunities and job placement. Our community needs available legal advice and safety programs that assist with citizenship issues, help prevent against job exploitation, and help us feel safer in our homes.

We need a system of open competitiveness for contracts to create jobs in the community, to make housing waiting list public, and for community development projects to be well publicized in advance of approvals. An open process creates competition and transparency so that we can stop secret agreements. We need change now and we cannot afford to wait.

We will work hard to restore those services that have been taken away from our elderly. We will continue all the services currently provided to the elderly, including the senior center programs and summer events. We will work to improve security, living conditions, medical services and plans to obtain affordable medications.

We have the experience and background to accomplish these tasks. Our commitment, our faith, our knowledge, and our strength are dedicated to bringing about change. We want everyone to be welcomed home to a better and improved Brooklyn.
